Continuing Dental Education: Dean's Message

Photo of UF College of Dentistry Dean Dolan The University of Florida College of Dentistry strives to be your trusted resource for meaningful, high-quality continuing dental education. As such, the college enjoys its role of supporting dental professionals in the pursuit of mastery of their chosen profession with a top-quality CDE experience. Our goal is to build relationships with the dental community that foster a lifetime of learning and personal growth. As part of the college's effort to expand our concept of the "dental community," our CDE department has actively cultivated the following relationships:

  • Alachua County Dental Association: Forged a unique fund-raiser/Team Training discount program to be implemented in Fall 2008.
  • ASDA and Pre-ASDA: Recruited volunteers to assist with the production of the Annual Dental Hygiene Symposium, our largest event of the year.
  • Corporate partners: Enlist corporate support to assist in offering the best CDE available.
  • The Dawson Academy: Entered an agreement to bring Dr. Peter Dawson’s Center for Advanced Dental Study courses to the St. Petersburg Dental Clinic beginning Fall 2008.

  • St. Petersburg College Dental Hygiene Program: Partnered with SPC Dental Hygiene Faculty to develop and present the Dental Hygiene Spring Summit and other CDE programs.
  • St. Petersburg Dental Clinic: Partnered with the AEGD program to offer top-quality CDE on a regular basis at their state-of-the-art facility.
  • UFCD: Collaborated with the Curriculum Committee to present "The Reality of Dental Practice," a one-day program by private practitioners (alumni of the Comprehensive Dentistry Program), to dental students in the fall of their senior year.

UF CDE is committed to dental excellence. By focusing on relationships that strengthen the dental community, we believe we can influence the delivery of high quality dental care to patients and heighten the standing of the dental profession within the larger community.
