Tuition Comparison Chart

Tuition costs at the University of Florida College of Dentistry are comparatively modest for Florida resident D.M.D. students. The chart above compares UF dental school tuition by year of dental school with the average tuition for state residents and non-residents enrolled at all US dental schools. UF offers an outstanding value to its D.M.D. students by providing a high quality educational experience at a very reasonable cost.

Health Insurance: All students in the D.M.D. program are required to be covered under a comprehensive health insurance policy either through their parents' insurance or their own policy. A group health policy is available to UF students through the University of Florida Student Government.

Computer Policy: All UF students are required to have access to a computer and the Internet. No specific type of computer is required, so long as it meets the specifications spelled out in the UF computer policy guidelines.

Instrument Leasing: Dental students lease instruments from the college for their use in the instructional program. Leased instruments are sterilized, maintained, repaired and replaced under reasonable use as part of the leasing program. Students pay an instrument lease fee each semester which is included in financial aid calculations.

Cost of living: Fortunately, the cost of living, including housing, food and transportation cost in Gainesville, Florida is comparatively low. This reduces the total costs of education to Florida dental students when compared with other metropolitan areas.

Bottom Line: For 2010-2011, the total cost of attendance (rent, meals, clothing, transportation, tuition, textbooks, instruments, computer, etc.) for the University of Florida College of Dentistry D.M.D. program is just under $59,000/year for residents of the state of Florida.

Please visit our Financial Aid site for information on how to finance your education.

Please note: Federal financial aid policies limit the amount students can borrow through educational loans to the Total Cost of Attendance (TCA). The TCA is the total cost for a student to attend school for one year. This amount includes tuition, fees, books, instrument costs, and living expenses like housing, food, transportation, etc. The TCA is set by the school (not the student). Students cannot borrow more than the TCA through federal educational loans, even if a student's personal costs are greater than the school's TCA.

Students who are married and/or have children must understand that federal financial aid is designed to help pay for the costs for one student to attend school, not to support other family members. The sole exception to this that, under some circumstances, families with children may receive additional financial aid for daycare costs. For questions regarding these federal policies or other financial aid issues, contact our financial aid officer, Tom Kolb, at 352-273-5999 or tomkolb@ufl.edu.
