Prerequisites

The following courses are required for enrollment in the University of Florida College of Dentistry.

Please note: Online courses are not accepted towards prerequisites. All prerequisites must completed with a letter grade of "C" or better (no Pass/Fail credits allowed).

Physical Sciences

Required courses:

  • General, inorganic chemistry – 8 semester hours (12 quarter hours)
  • Organic chemistry – 8 semester hours (12 quarter hours)
  • Physics – 8 semester hours (12 quarter hours)

Biomedical Sciences

Required courses:

  • Biology – 8 semester hours (12 quarter hours)
  • Biochemistry – 4 semester hours (6 quarter hours)
  • Microbiology – 4 semester hours (6 quarter hours)
  • Molecular Biology or a genetics course emphasizing molecular biology – 4 semester hours (6 quarter hours)

Communication

Required courses:

  • English Grammar and Composition 6-8 semester hours (8-12 quarter hours)

Behavioral Social Sciences

Required courses:

  • General Psychology 3-4 semester hours (5-6 quarter hours)
