Orthodontics
This program is designed to educate dentists to become leaders of the orthodontic profession and is committed to developing the following qualities in the students: ethics, integrity, scholarship, open-mindedness, sound judgment, the ability to communicate and to relate to patients, and manual ability to provide treatment.
This is a 35-month program leading to a Certificate in Orthodontics and a Master of Science in Dental Sciences with specialization in orthodontics. This is a highly competitive program receiving many applicants each year.
The tuition for the 2007-2008 year is $9,971 for Florida residents and $30,143 for non-residents.

1. Apply to PASS
All program applicants must apply through PASS (Postdoctoral Application Support Service), which is sponsored by the American Association of Dental Schools (www.adea.org
). PASS is an application clearinghouse that provides uniform information to participating programs while relieving applicants of the burden of completing multiple individual applications. The PASS web site opens for application in late spring/early summer. Participation in the PASS program is mandatory. We advise applicants to apply as early as possible.
You must apply to PASS by the deadline specified in the PASS materials to insure we receive your PASS application by our October 1st deadline.

2. Apply directly to the University of Florida Graduate School
Complete the Online Graduate Application. Select the "Graduate" option; do not select "Professional". Please mark "Masters" and "Summer B 2010" as the term. The application requires a non-refundable $30 application fee.

Application Status Updates

Orthodontic Fellowship
Available to U.S. and Foreign Dental Graduates
The Department of Orthodontics offers an advanced education course entitled "Fellowship in Orthodontics for the General Practitioner." The experience is tailored to the desires of the fellow with experiences in clinical orthodontics, orthodontic case analysis, clinical or basic research and didactic orthodontic courses. This course is designed to give the fellow an experience in clinical orthodontics that will better equip them to pursue an orthodontics residency. The fellow can work in the faculty's intramural practice, under the direction of the full-time professors up to two days per week. In addition, the fellow may attend departmentally offered courses and clinical case conferences that the orthodontic residents take. We also offer the fellow an opportunity to work on a basic or clinical research project during the course. The research may be presented at the International Association of Dental Research meeting and could also be published in the orthodontic literature.
This course is for one calendar year (three 4-month terms) and the tuition is $8,333/term or $25,000/year. At the completion of the Fellowship, a certificate of attendance in this course from the Department will be awarded.
