Our goal is to build relationships with the dental community to foster a lifetime of learning and personal growth. We are focusing on creating opportunities for the entire dental community, including our student dentists, to come together to fellowship in meaningful activities that foster professional development, networking and communications including:

Senior Professional Development Day

The 2008 Senior Professional Day marked a new initiative for senior dental students sponsored by Continuing Dental Education (CDE) and utilizing Comprehensive Dentistry Program alumni to present, "Real World Dentistry Presented by Real World Dentists." We received excellent feedback from attendees and the college's Curriculum Committee moved to make this an annual event.

Dental Fall Weekend

This is one of the college's signature reunion alumni events presented by the AAF (Academy of Alumni & Friends) and is focused on fun and fraternity. In 2008 we were fortunate to land Homecoming Weekend for the reunion meaning festivities included the Homecoming Parade, Gator Growl, an SEC game against the Kentucky Wildcats, a pregame tailgate party with the Psi Omega Dental Fraternity, and a one hour CDE program. Dental Fall Weekend 2009 is again scheduled for UF's Homecoming Weekend (October 16 & 17), so if you plan to attend please register early – packages are limited.

Spring Synergy Weekend

The first annual Spring Synergy Weekend, in April 2009, kicked off with Chris Marchack, D.D.S., presenting a tremendous program on "The Road to Restoration with Dental Implants" attended by 71 college faculty, staff, students and private practitioners. The event activities also included an American Student Dental Association (ASDA) vendor fair and Central Florida District Dental Association reception with about 200 people in attendance. The Jawbreakers, a college faculty band, provided classic tunes from the 60s & 70s and a Sunday ASDA Golf Tournament fundraiser rounded out the weekend. Watch your mail and email for dates, registration materials and deadlines.

We hope that you'll join us for this year's events designed to foster a cohesive dental community including organized dentistry, private practitioners, corporate partners, students, faculty, and staff. The UF College of Dentistry and our CDE are committed to dental excellence. By focusing on relationships that strengthen the dental community, we believe that we can influence the delivery of high quality dental care to patients and heighten the standing of the dental profession within the larger community.
