2011–2012 Timeline for Promotion and Tenure Application Process
June 27, 2011
  • List of nominees for tenure and/or promotion from Department Chairs submitted to the Dean’s Office
  • Department administrator enters candidate information via the online P&T system
June 30, 2011
  • UFCD receives official tenure-eligible list from Provost and Academic Personnel Offices
  • Candidate elects to waive/not waive rights to review external letters of evaluation via online system
July 8, 2011 Department Chairs send out letters to solicit External Reviewers (refer to "Solicitation of Letters" memo)
August 22, 2011 Original hard-copy P&T Packets due in the Dean's Office, D4-14, for technical/formatting review prior to uploading document via online system
September 9, 2011
  • External Reviewers' letters (minimum of five) received by Department Chair
  • Department administrator adds department review committee members via online system
September 16, 2011 Candidate uploads final packet into online system (any modifications to packet will be submitted in section #33-Further Information)

  • Department administrator uploads department vote and department chair letter via online system

Mid-Career Review

The mid-career review process for tenure-accruing and non-tenure accruing faculty in the College of Dentistry will occur after three years of employment. The review process will be used to formally advise the tenure-accruing faculty member on his/her progress toward tenure and recommend courses of action for improvement, if necessary. For non-tenure accruing faculty, the review process will be used to formally advise the candidate of his/her progress toward promotion.

June 30, 2011 List of eligible faculty for mid-career review sent to the department chairs from the dean's office
July 1–August 5, 2011 Candidates for mid-career review prepare packet in the tenure and promotion application format defined in the 2011–2012 guidelines, regulations, and packet instructionsPDF (without letters of evaluation and without a departmental vote), in consultation with the Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs and College’s HR Office
August 8, 2011 Mid-career review packets due to department chair
August 8–September 2, 2011 Department chair and appropriate faculty (same rank or higher) in the department will meet and discuss the candidate's progress. Department chair completes the mid-career review evaluation report
September 9, 2011 The chair's evaluation report and original mid-career faculty progress report (original plus nine copies) due to the UFCD P&T Advisory Committee (Dean's Office, D4-14)
September 12–30, 2011 UFCD P&T Advisory Committee evaluates the candidate's career progress in conjunction with the chairperson's evaluation
October 3–21, 2011 UFCD P&T Advisory Committee chair prepares a summary of the career progress to date of each candidate and the reports are approved by the committee
October 24–November 11, 2011 Recommendation of the UFCD P&T Advisory Committee are communicated to the candidate, the candidate's chair, and the dean
