Biographical Information

Dr. Lauren Governale graduated from the University of Florida, College of Dentistry in 1985. She received the award from the American Society of Dentistry for Children for excellence in Pediatric Dentistry. Following graduation, she obtained a Master's Degree in Public Health from Florida International University (1991) while practicing dentistry in the public health sector. Her Master's project involved a study of Fluoride. Dr. Governale then earned a certificate in Dental Public Health from the University of Florida, College of Dentistry in 1994. Her research project included a Dental Needs Assessment Survey of school-aged children in Broward County, Florida. Dr. Governale then earned a specialty certificate in Pediatric Dentistry from the University of Florida, College of Dentistry at Miami Children's Hospital in 2000 where she was Chief Resident. Her research project involved a school-based dental sealant project in Miami-Dade County. She then acted as an an attending pediatric dentist Miami Children's Hospital for a number of years, where she participated as a member of the craniofacial team. She also worked on school-based dental sealant projects in Monroe County during her time spent at Miami Children's Hospital. Dr. Governale has also practiced pediatric dentistry in a private dental setting as well in Southeast Florida.

Dr. Governale obtained her Board Certification in 2007 in Pediatric Dentistry, and is a Diplomate and Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry.

Dr. Governale is currently the Clinical Director for the University of Florida, College of Dentistry Pediatric Dental Residency Program located in Naples.

She is currently a member of the American Dental Association, the Florida Dental Association, the West Coast Dental Association and the Collier County Dental Association.

Dr. Governale is married with two children.
