Shadowing at the College of Dentistry

Interested in Shadowing at the University of Florida College of Dentistry? You have two options:

1.) Long Term Shadowing (at least a semester)

Contact the Shands at UF Volunteer Center near the end of each academic semester to sign up for training and to shadow in the UFCD clinics.

2.) Short Term Shadowing (less than a semester)

Here are the steps that need to be done:

1. Go to http://privacy.health.ufl.edu/shadowing/index.shtml to print a "Request to Observe Patient Care" form.
2. Make arrangements to be sponsored by a UF HealthScience Center representative.
3. Obtain written permission from the Senior Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs.
4. Complete the University of Florida's online training tutorial: HIPAA at UF: Patient Privacy & Security for Visitors and print a certificate.
5. Review the Health Information Policy and sign the UF Confidentiality Statement.
6. Submit the completed Request to Observe Patient Care form and all attachments to the Office of Clinical Administration, Room D3-9 (352) 273-6820.

Please note:

• Visiting Faculty and applicants for faculty positions who visit for less than two days are requested to review the UF Health Information Policy and sign the UF Confidentiality Statement prior to beginning activities with the University.
• Applicants for residency and fellowship positions who visit for less than two days are required to complete the following steps prior to beginning activities with the University;
  1. Complete UF's online training tutorial: HIPAA at UF: Patient Privacy & Security for Visitors and print a certificate.
  2. Review the Health Information Policy and sign the UF Confidentiality Statement.
