Periodontal Health & Diseases in Children & Adolescents:
Clinical Implications
COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This course will describe the relevance of prevention classification
and treatment of periodontal and gingival diseases
in children. Dentists must consider the possibility of

systemic and mental development of children and adolescents,
including gingival and periodontal diseases. This
seminar provides a comprehensive review on several
aspects of gingival and periodontal diseases in children
and adolescents such as: their relevance, diagnosis and
treatment, the sequential appearance of these diseases at
various ages in the same individual, recognition of individuals,
families, and populations at risk, conservative
approach to gingival recession, and the intimate connection
between the systemic condition and the gingival and
periodontal tissues. These subjects will be covered with a
review of the literature and multiple clinical examples.

To be able to diagnose and treat gingival and periodontal
diseases in children and adolescents, while considering the
influence of growth and development on the gingival and
periodontal tissues.
