Periodontology & Implant Update for the Dental Hygienist
COURSE DESCRIPTION:
A refresher course on the current concepts in the pathogenesis, diagnosis and management of periodontal diseases. The long term maintenance of the natural teeth and implants will be discussed.
COURSE OBJECTIVES:
- Periodontal Diseases - Types of diseases and their diagnoses.
- Current concepts on the pathogenesis of periodontal diseases.
- Initial Therapy of the Periodontally involved teeth.
- Plaque-retaining factors and their management.
- Periodontitis and PeriImplantitis - Similarities and differences.
- The Dental Hygienist's role in diagnosing recurring disease.
- Long-term Maintenance of Teeth and Implants.
FACULTY:
- Ikramuddin Aukhil, B.D.S., M.S., Professor & Chairman, Department of Periodontology, University of Florida College of Dentistry. Dr. Aukhil is an active member of many professional organizations, has published and presented extensively, and is engaged in private practice limited to Periodontology & Implants in the Faculty Practice at the University of Florida College of Dentistry.
