Q: Does the certificate for the 2-year Internationally-Educated Dentists Program allow me to take the State of Florida Licensing Exam?
A: Yes, in fact it's mandatory.
Q: Does the certificate apply to any other states?
A: Some states in the United States do accept it but you would have contact the state you're interested in to verify its policies.
Q: Do I get a letter grades for my courses or is it pass/fail?
A. Letter grades are given.
Q: When do I have to select what offsite clinic I'm going to in my second year?
A: You make your initial selection on an unofficial basis at the time of your interview.
Q: Do I get my first choice all of the time?
A: In most cases, you'll get your first choice of the 3 sites…Jacksonville, Hialeah, or St. Petersburg.
Q: What kind of procedures will I be performing at the different clinics?
A: Each clinic has a different patient population, hence, the type of procedures will vary. But you will most likely perform restorations, prosthodontics, and various oral surgery procedures.
Q: Do we get travel reimbursement for our second year at the off-sites?
A: No travel reimbursement is provided.
Q: What types of things do I have to take with me when I go to the offsite?
A: You will require the same items you needed during your first year in Gainesville. Remember, you're packing for a full year. Note: Battery-powered alarm clocks are recommended.
Q: Where will I be staying at each location? Hialeah? Jacksonville? St. Petersburg?
A: You can stay in an apartment, home, condo, or with family and friends. Help in finding housing can be found on site location websites.
Q: Are pets allowed?
A: Pets may or may not be allowed depending upon leasing agreements or the rules of the household where you're staying.
Q: How soon do I need to apply for financial aid?
A: Prepare to apply for a loan (if needed) at your interview. If you're selected, you will have time to have appropriate documentation verified.
