University
of Florida College of Dentistry DMD Admissions: Financial Aid
- Timeline
Financial Aid Award Notice
Once
your financial aid file is complete (all documents received by financial
affairs), awards can be made based on cost of attendance and student
need. Financial affairs develops individual financial aid packages.
Individual packages may contain various federal, state or college
awards. After awards are made, an award notice is mailed to the
applicant. The financial affairs office begins posting award notices
during the summer. Award notices not only let the applicant know
how much financial aid they will be eligible for, but also the steps
involved with obtaining the awarded funds. It is imperative that
you read and understand everything contained within the award notice.
Among the items included
will be a three step checklist to complete before you receive
your federal Direct Loan funds. All new borrowers MUST complete
each item in order to receive the Stafford Loans. An insert within
the award letter will list web sites for completing the three
steps (Promissory Note, Direct Loan Entrance Counseling, and Direct
Loan Confirmation). After completion of the three steps, funds
are ready to be disbursed.
Keys
to remember with the award notice:
1.
Read all information contained within the award letter
2. Complete all steps to ensure that financial
aid is not delayed
Disbursement
of Funds
After receiving the
award letter and completing each of the steps outlined within
the letter, financial aid funds should be ready for disbursement.
Disbursement is made at the beginning of each term that an award
is present. For example: fall awards are released at the beginning
of the fall semester (early September), spring awards are released
at the beginning of the spring semester (early January). Tuition
deferments are granted to all students that have applied for financial
aid.
Therefore, tuition is not due until financial aid is released.
Once released, tuition and anything else currently owed to the
school will be deducted from the financial aid check and the remainder
will be released.
Students are strongly encouraged to sign
up for Direct Deposit to have their financial aid checks
sent directly to their checking accounts. If not enrolled for
Direct Deposit, the financial aid check will be mailed to the
student’s local mailing address on file with the
University of Florida.
WE STRONGLY ADVISE
YOU TO SIGN UP FOR DIRECT DEPOSIT OF YOUR FINANCIAL AID FUNDS.
Students move often and local addresses change frequently. To
receive your financial aid with no delays, use direct deposit.
Keys
to disbursement:
