UF College of Dentistry: Admissions

International Dentist Admissions: Internationally-Educated Dentist 2-Year Certificate Program

This is one of two programs at the University of Florida College of Dentistry for dentists who have:

1)  international dental degrees
2)  and whose goal is to be able to practice dentistry in Florida.

NOTE:  Florida Law requires any dentist with a degree outside of the      United States or Canada to complete a General Dentistry program of two years in length at a dental school prior to applying for the Florida State Board Examination.

This program was designed for internationally-educated dentists who are legal residents of the state of Florida. Florida residents have priority in admission to this program.

Overview: 2 Year Certificate Program

The Internationally-Educated Dentist Program (formally Foreign Trained Dentist program) leads to a certificate. This certificate allows you to take the board exam to practice dentistry in Florida. It may be accepted by the boards of other states in the US. Check with other states to see if they will accept the certificate.  This program does not lead to a dental degree.  We accept 12 dentists into this program each year.  If you are interested in a dental specialty in the future, we strongly encourage you to apply to our 4 year DMD program.

NEW! For more information about our 2-year certificate program, click HERE.

NOTE:  Applicants seeking admission who are currently enrolled in another dental program (Any Dental Education Program, Advanced Standing Program, AEGD, GPR) will not be considered unless the current program will be completed successfully before this program begins.
