UF College of Dentistry: Admissions

International Dentist Admissions: FAFSA Information

The University of Florida College of Dentistry is a state supported institution, its tuition and fees are different for residents and non-residents of the state of Florida.

Tuition costs have increased in recent years and it is likely that they will continue to increase in the coming years. Tuition and fees are subject to change without notice.

Tuition and Fees:

For enrollment in the FTD program, registration and course fees for 2005-2006 are approximately $18,000 per year for Florida residents and $44,000 for non-residents. This amount is payable in 2 installments in August and January of each academic year. Dental students do not pay tuition in the summer semester.

The registration fee includes a required student activity fee for each semester.

All students in the FTD program are required to be covered under a comprehensive health insurance policy. A group health policy is available to UF students through the University of Florida Student Government.

Computer Policy: All UF students are required to have access to a computer and the Internet. No specific type of computer is required, so long as it meets the specifications spelled out in the UF computer policy guidelines. See more information on the UF computer policy.

Instrument leasing: Dental students lease instruments from the college for their use in the instructional program. Leased instruments are sterilized, maintained, repaired and replaced under reasonable use as part of the leasing program. Students pay an instrument lease fee each semester which is included in financial aid calculations.

Cost of living: Fortunately, the cost of living, including housing, food and transportation cost in Gainesville, Florida is comparatively low. This reduces the total costs of education to Florida dental students when compared with other metropolitan areas.

Bottom Line:

For 2005-06, the total cost of attendance (rent, meals, clothing, transportation, tuition, textbooks, instruments, computer, etc.)  for the University of Florida College of Dentistry FTD program is almost $40,000/year for residents of the state of Florida. See more detailed information on program costs and tuition and fees.
