Continuing Education: Costa Rica FAQ
What are the actual course days?
Day 1 is Arrival and hotel check-in. Day 2 is the Costa Rica tour. Days 3-4 are the course dates, with a catered reception and band on the evening of the 2nd course day.
Can I bring extra family members? What would be the additional cost?
The package is for
two people bed and breakfast. A third person would be $20 per
night, which includes breakfast. There are a few suites that can
take 4 people and the fourth person would also pay $20/night.
How are the transfers from/to the airport arranged ?
When you have booked your flight, email your names (all members of party), flight arrival and departure details (flight number, times) to benn@healthconundrums.com. Health Conumdrums will then arrange with the hotel to ensure that transport is there to collect you.
What
if I want to leave right after the seminar, is there a reduction
in package price?
Please call 1-888-550-4590 for
rates for alternate length visits.
What
if I want to stay longer or want upgraded room?
Please call 1-888-550-4590 for rates for alternate length visits or room upgrades.
Do I need a passport?
Yes. There is also a $26 exit charge when you leave the country. Part of this charge goes towards travel security checks at the airport.
How far is it to each coast?
Approximately 68 miles to Jaco on the Pacific and 150 to Port Limon on the carribean coast. Jaco will take about 1 ½ hours and Port Limon about 3 hours. Although the distances are not great, the roads wind around the mountains so travel is slow.
What about car rentals?
Through the hotel rentals start at about $50 per day with basic insurance. However, basic insurance means you will have a $1,000 deductible if the car is damaged. For no deductible or out of pocket expenses, an extra $15/day comprehensive insurance is advisable. Alternatively, I have used a national company that charges about $40/day plus $15 comprehensive insurance if needed. If people email Health Conumdrums, they will see what they can arrange.
Can my spouse sit in on the class?
Yes, Assuming the class is not fully booked. Registration Fee for Non-Dr. Spouse or Significant other is $95.
Do I have to exchange currency?
No, You can pay for everything in US $ and use credit cards. However, there are few ATMS on the Caribbean coast. Also you will be charged 7% for using a credit card in hotels. Credit cards in shops do not charge usually. US$ cash can get you discounts on purchases sometimes.
