Dental Trauma:

New Concepts in Treatment and Prevention

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

Traumatic injuries often include situations where there is a diagnostic dilemma. In this presentation the difficulties in diagnosing and treating traumatized teeth will be discussed. The indications, advantages and treatment modalities including calcium hydroxide and splinting time will also be addressed.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

At conclusion, participants should be able to:

  • Have a better understanding on diagnosing traumatized teeth
  • Have a better prognostic evaluation of the case
  • Recognize differences in treatment for luxation injuries and avulsion injuries
  • Recognize different types of intracanal medicaments utilized following trauma
  • Recognize and treat when necessary cases of Horizontal Root Fracture
  • Understand the need and applications of mouth –guards
