Orthodontic Intervention in Esthetic and Restorative Dentistry
COURSE DESCRIPTION:
The hallmark of an increasingly fitness conscious society is to improve their overall health and well being. A benefit of this awareness
is to also improve one’s appearance. One only has to peruse the advertising sections of magazines or television to realize that America is a visually conscious country.
Dentistry has enjoyed a surge of interest in this capacity. Recent Advances in materials and techniques have advanced the capabilities of clinical dentists.
Orthodontics can play a supportive role in the management of dental patients to maximize the esthetic potential. This lecture and slide presentation will increase the
working knowledge of the dental team concerning the role of the orthodontist in restorative and esthetic dentistry.
COURSE OBJECTIVES:
At the end of this presentation you will:
- Know the various proportions of facial esthetics.
- Review the influence and management of growth and development on facial esthetics.
- Review the orthodontic perspectives of various dentoskeletal conditions and advances in treatment.
- Review the foundations for a team approach for dental patient management.
- Be exposed to a variety of clinical cases to optimize the restorative, occlusal and esthetic potential.
FACULTY:
Mark S. Coican, D.M.D., M.S. Dr. Coican received his D.M.D. from the University of Florida in 1981 and was in private general practice before
returning to graduate school. He completed the residency program in orthodontics at the University of Detroit in 1984. Dr. Coican is in the private practice of
orthodontics in Palm Bay, Fl.
