DIGITAL RADIOGRAPHY for Dentists & Radiologic Technologists
COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This course is designed to provide an advanced overview of digital radiographic techniques to the dental practitioner. The course
would enable the dentist/RT to understand the basic concepts of digital radiography. The indications for use of direct digital imaging will be discussed and the advantages
and disadvantages of such systems explored. The participants will be instructed on interpreting the information provided by vendors of digital imaging systems.
Currently available direct digital imaging intra-oral units will be compared to conventional systems. The various aspects of image manipulation and their contribution
to diagnosis will be evaluated, based on the current scientific literature. Indirect digital imaging will also be explored for its merits and demerits.
A hands-on session will be offered where the participants will expose and process digital radiographs using different systems, including wired and wireless sensors.
Also included is a hands-on opportunity to work with upgrade options for existing film-based panoramic/cephalometric units to digital, as also direct capture. A
Picture Archiving and Communications System (PACS) will be available for image capture and archiving/retrieval.
COURSE OBJECTIVES:
This hands-on workshop will directly impact your patients by:
- To give a brief overview of relevant technical aspects of digital imaging
- Discuss advantages and disadvantages of digital imaging systems
- Discuss currently available systems in direct and indirect digital imaging
- Image processing and manipulation
- Uses of digital imaging
- Image storage/archiving options
- Advanced digital imaging: new frontiers of research
- Image types and need for standardization
- Hands on training
WHO SHOULD ATTEND: Dentists and radiologic technologists who are planning to or have recently implemented digital imaging in their offices.
