Also included will be a discussion of recent developments in determining the etiology and especially treatment and prevention of oral cancer and premalignant lesions such as leukoplakia. Included in this will be a discussion of the newest most important predictors of oral cancer development, ploidy and proliferative verrucous hyperplasia as well as the critical genetic alterations and the newly delineated role for human papilloma virus infection in oral cancer. Specific topics include burning mouth syndrome, contact stomatitis, a new paradigm in diagnosing and treating oral ulcers and drug induced ulcers and allergies, pigmentations and gingival hyperplasia.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

  • Broaden the practitioner’s differential diagnoses to include some new and/or unrecognized lesions.
