Campus-wide symposia will take place on Thursday to showcase the university's many talents and accomplishments while honoring and welcoming President Machen and his wife, Chris. College of Dentistry Symposium : "The Post-Genomic Era: Where We Are and Prospects for the Future"
1:30 to 3:30 PM , D3-3, C1-4, D8-11
Dental Clinics will be closed in the afternoon, and faculty, students and residents are encouraged to attend.
A faculty reading initiative co-sponsored by the president's office and the Center for the Study of Race and Race Relations will discuss Dr. Beverly D. Tatum's book, 'Why Are All the Black Kids Sitting Together in the Cafeteria? And Other Conversations About Race' (Basic Books, 2003). The Installation Ceremony will take place noon to 1:30 p.m. at the Stephen C. O'Connell Center and is open to the public. Faculty from across campus will participate in full academic regalia, and College of Dentistry marshals Dr. Paul Blaser and Dr. Jim Pettigrew, as well as college flag bearer Dr. Calogero Dolce, will participate in the faculty procession escorting President Machen to the installation podium.
A public reception will immediately follow the Installation Ceremony at 2 p.m. and will continue until 4 p.m. in the Florida Gym.
