The
FTD program is intended to enhance the student’s confidence and competence
in performing all aspects of general dentistry. The training includes experience
in the recognized dental specialties and appropriate medical services. The teaching
staff consists of generalists and board eligible or certified dental specialists
representing a broad spectrum of dental expertise.
First Year
The didactic
program consists of pre-doctoral coursework as outlined in the curriculum
flowchart. The curriculum includes pre-clinical and classroom coursework.
The clinical program will begin in the Fall term in Gainesville.
The clinic setting focuses on comprehensive care. This is explained thoroughly
in the Clinical Program section of this manual.
Second Year
The didactic
program includes a series of scheduled, structured teaching sessions
at advanced levels of training devoted to pertinent topics in the basic, diagnostic
and clinical sciences related the comprehensive practice of dentistry.
The clinical program will provide the student the opportunity
and experience to take responsibility for the comprehensive care of varied and
complex patients. The clinical disciplines represented in the program are:
