What: Free dental treatment for 80 low-income Alachua County school children during “Give Kids a Smile”

UF, Santa Fe and the Alachua County Dental Association have partnered to provide free dental care to 80 Alachua County school children this Friday as part of the American Dental Association's Give Kids a Smile event during National Children's Dental Health Month.
Of the 100 school children screened at the university on Jan. 21, 80 kids were selected to receive comprehensive treatment this Friday. UF faculty and students will provide care to 45 children in the college's pediatric and foreign trained dentist clinics, while 18 private dentists from the Gainesville community will treat 35 children at the Santa Fe Community College dental clinic, which is managed by the College of Dentistry .
More than $55,000 in free dental care will be provided to the children at UF and Santa Fe during this year's Give Kids a Smile activities. This marks the third year of the UF event, which has been designated by the ADA as one of the top 10 Give Kids a Smile programs nationwide.
