Oral Biology: Research
By its nature, Oral Biology
unites many scientific disciplines. The Department of Oral
Biology is home to over 80 bright, energetic people using state-of-the-art
techniques to study the molecular genetics and physiology of bacterial
pathogenesis, the physiology, pharmacology and genetics of exocrine
secretion, basic function and modulation of the mucosal immune system,
autoimmunity and the interaction of pathogenic organisms with host
cells. A broad multidisciplinary approach is employed in all
laboratories and a highly supportive and collaborative atmosphere
exists that has allowed researchers in our Department to interact
with faculty in our Department, in the College and throughout the
University community.
