University of Florida College of Dentistry Graduate Admissions: Periodontics Program

The goal of this program is to develop Periodontists who desire to enter clinical practice or an academic career in Periodontics. 

1. A thorough foundation in evaluating therapeutic technique and in the current knowledge base about diseases of the periodontium.

2. A sound knowledge of basic science and an appreciation of research and its application to periodontology.

3. Demonstrated ability to manage all degrees of periodontal disease.

4. The ability to integrate periodontal care with other forms of dental care through cooperation with generalists and other specialists.

This is a 36-month program which leads to a Certificate in Periodontics and a Master of Science in Dental Sciences with specialization in Periodontics. The program fulfills guidelines set forth by the Council on Dental Education and the American Academy of Periodontology. 

Academically oriented students may elect to pursue a Ph.D. degree either concurrent with the certificate program or subsequently.

Tuition for the 2005-2006 academic year is approximately $7,667 for Florida residents and $28,478 for non-Florida residents. 2005-2006 stipends are $9,500 year one, and $10,000 year two and $10,500 year three.
