Pediatric Dentistry Department: Alumni

PedoGators, Inc. – the birth of the Department of Pediatric Dentistry’s Alumni and Friends Association.
Following last year’s inaugural alumni weekend, a group of former residents meet at the UF Hilton Conference Center in Gainesville, Florida, to resurrect the alumni association. An organizing committee composed of Drs. Ron Rozanski (’87), George MacMaster (’88), Dan Barnes (’89), Barry Marcum (’94), Tim Glomb (’95), Caryn Alvarado (’00), and Carly Thomas (’01) volunteered to help with this project. The organizing committee elected the following individuals as their new association’s officers: Drs. Tim Glomb (President), Caryn Alvardo (Vice-President) and Dan Barnes (Secretary / Treasurer). Dr. Bob Primosch was appointed Executive Director of the Association. The Association was incorporated as “PedoGators, Inc.” and it has its own Constitution and Bylaws to direct it. Out of 50 graduates, 49 have joined, along with 20 “friends” including non-alumni practitioners, faculty and current residents and fellows.
PedoGators, Inc. is a support group of the University of Florida’s Department of Pediatric Dentistry. Its goals are to sponsor an annual continuing education program, support the department’s residency program activities, and develop social opportunities to meet in the future (at the 2005 AAPD annual meeting in Orlando). The group held its first meeting on October 23, 2004 and agreed to donate funds to the Department’s Clinic Renovation Fund following appropriate legal counsel to assure it is within the proper tax-exempt status of its incorporation. The next two business / continuing education meetings will be held at the UF Hilton Conference Center on the Friday before the scheduled Florida-Georgia football game. The group also discussed potential speakers for these continuing education meetings. The next meeting will be October 28, 2005. We hope to see you there!
